I promised news and information about the production of „Stopping Power“ in Berlin. So here is the first.

German newspapers reported, that due to the production there will be sections of two highways in the mid of Germany completely closed for two weeks in September. The district administration gave the permission after they received money for it. Also they hope to improve the image of the region. Transport companies were not amused about the decision.
More than 1.000 people from the region were cast for the production of the action scenes.

Hollywood Stars are a common sight on the streets of Berlin nowadays. So it doesn’t matter, that Tom Cruise has disappeared for some days. The production of “Stopping Power” has already started for John Cusack. In his spare time he was seen in the famous French restaurant Borchardt, made a sight-seeing trip trough Berlin in the back of a limousine and visited the Bikram Yoga Studio.

But today I found new information, which really confuses me. The German newspaper Mitteldeutsche Zeitung, which I would call serious (no yellow press) says:

“The production of “Stopping Power” is completely CANCELLED (!) due to financial problems of the production company. The reason for this is the real estate crisis in the USA; investors have withdrawn their agreement for the financing of the project. In case the company will restart the production, they will come back to the region again, as they were very satisfied with the support.”

Has anyone else heard about that? I actually have not found another message about it.
