 Chicago Tribune random tidbit
Thought I'd share this random tidbit from the Chicago Tribune...
Papa John? Only on film
Despite fatherly roles, Cusack 'can barely keep a plant alive'
Terry Armour
November 25, 2007
Could John Cusack be heading into the "fatherly" phase of his career? At 41, the Evanston native has recently played a widowed writer who wants to adopt a 6-year-old in "Martian Child" and next month stars in "Grace Is Gone" as a father struggling to tell his two daughters that their mother has died in Iraq. Cusack realizes some people might find it strange that he's playing a dad. "Basically, I can barely keep a plant alive," he recently told Armour & Co. "I don't really know how I would do with a pet or a wife or a child -- not that I would put those three in the same category. But I have nephews so I am not fully without capabilities to figure that stuff out."

Nice tidbit. LuvJohn, thanks!
Does anybody know if there is a film where John has portrayed a doctor? The writer from way-back-when Erma Bombeck said, "Never go to a doctor whose office plants have died." I guess it's a good thing John didn't take up medicine if he can barely keep a plant alive. Sorry, John.

I was watching "America's Sweethearts" today. John's character Eddie Thomas briefly plays an optometrist in one of his movies. BTW, there's a good pants shot in "AS" after he falls on the cactus. Ouch!
Yeah LuvJohn, you would get sick pretty darn quick. I'd start moaning and begging for chicken soup and good ol' TLC.

I am so observant when a cactus is around. You can't trust it, especially those jumping cactus.

No, his hasn't been a doctor in none of his movies.
His carachters are mostly "humanits" like him writers, lawyers, artists. With our favourite "Hit Man" excepcion.

 Re: Chicago Tribune random tidbit
I thought the comparison from a plant to a child was pretty amusing but if he has nephews I think he will be just fine when fatherhood comes his way. I am 24 and i have 4nieces and 2 nephews and my sister has another on the way. So i've been and aunt of seven since I was 10 yrs old. I know that I won't be scared when the time for motherhood comes my way! Oh by the way I loved the crack about the cactus that was hilarious.
