Have to agree with you. I would say he is seriously being considered!! It would be nice to get nominated at the very least. I hope he gets his foot in the door. It is bound to happen. If not with this script, I am sure that he will get that golden statue named OSCAR. I also am a big Viggo Mortensen fan so I hope he gets in there too. Awesome!!! Thanks for the post!!!       :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :colors: :colors: :colors: :colors: :elephant: :elephant: :elephant: :elephant: :blob9: :blob9: :blob9: :blob9: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :mrcooldude: :mrcooldude: :mrcooldude:

All of a sudden there is a landslide of media talk about a "crowded field" for Oscar noms. Depp is now being touted as a major contender as is Javier Badim and Philip Seymour Hoffman. I'm thinking John will be nominated for a Golden Globe but not necessarily an Oscar.

Another big plus for an underdog in a tight race is having a distributor behind you that is determined to bring home Oscar nominations to help boost the box office of their smaller films. No one has done this more successfully than Harvey Weinstein, who delivered three best picture winners to Miramax and got Oscars for scores of actors who weren't necessarily household names when they won.

This year the Weinstein Co. mogul is trying hard to work his magic again with smaller films like "Grace Is Gone," "Control" and "I'm Not There," with its much touted performance by Cate Blanchett as Bob Dylan. "Intimate, character-driven films give talented actors like John Cusack, Sam Riley and Cate Blanchett the unique opportunity to display their incredible talents in a profound way -- a way that deeply moves audiences," Weinstein says. "Often, more high-profile and high-budget films don't afford actors that type of opportunity. "It's important to me that these [indie] artists receive the recognition they deserve," Weinstein says.

ALL depends on how hard Weinstein campaigns for John.

:oldschool: He deserves an Oscar finally! I think he did an awesome job in Room 1408, but it was not expected to be such a commercial success, so maybe no nomintion. John should pick up a Golden Globe nomination for either one. Finally, Buffalo is my home town, the Film Commisiion there is having trouble getting funding for next year. Politics! Maybe the powers to be do not like John's interest in the "Shock Doctrine"!

Stay Blessed

Post GIG and the Oscars!
"Million Dollar Baby" did poorly in the theaters until it won several Oscars. Most common folks paid it no mind. Let's hope the same for Grace is Gone![/b]
